Lady A's Charles Kelley and his wife Cassie are expecting their second child. They shared the news yesterday on social media in a post that featured a number of pregnancy pictures with the couple and their 9-year-old son Ward. "Biggest surprise of our lives!" Kenny Chesney and June Carter Cash are the newest inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Vince Gill hosted the announcement yesterday. Carter Cash joins in the Veteran Era Artist Category and Chesney is this year's Modern Era inductee. Carter Cash's children, Carlene Carter and John Carter Cash, were on hand to talk about their mom's posthumous induction into the Hall of Fame. Carlene described her mother as a "force of nature." When Kenny took the stage, he talked about an Alabama concert that he went to with his mom and stepfather when he was younger. "I went to that show and something happened to me that night," he said. "There was a fire lit, something in my soul that set me on this path." They will be formally inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in a Medallion Ceremony in October.
Trisha Yearwood is the latest celebrity to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony was held yesterday. Trisha's husband, Garth Brooks, and friends Reba McEntire and Carly Pearce were all there to honour her. Reba talked about the first time she met Trisha at the ACM Awards in the early 90's. She ended up sitting with Trisha and her mom at the afterparty. "I sat there with you and I thought 'I love her already because she's with her mom.' And your dry wit sense of humour won my heart," Reba told the crowd. Carly Pearce talked about how much of an influence Trisha has been on her career. "People tell you to never meet your heroes, but the woman we are all celebrating today has made me and so many other aspiring country music singers think differently," Carly said.
The 60th annual ACM Awards, hosted again by Reba McEntire, are taking place May 8th at the Star in Frisco, Texas. The show will air live on Amazon Prime. The nominees have not been revealed yet, but the first performers have been announced. Blake Shelton, Eric Church and Lainey Wilson will all appear on the show. More performers and the nominees will be announced in the coming weeks.
Luke Combs received the 109th star on the Music City Walk of Fame on March 20th. During the ceremony, he shared his thanks with the fans who are "the reason why we all wanted to pursue country music in the first place." Luke also thanked his parents, his wife Nicole, his friends, his manager since day one Chris Kappy and the rest of his team and his label. He went on to say that he "never in a million years" would have predicted his career would have reached this level. Luke revealed that loves doing what he does so much that he would have been happy if that meant he just got to pay his bills and live in a one bedroom apartment by himself. Luke's Music City Walk of Fame induction ceremony was supposed to take place last fall, but he missed it because he was organizing the Concert for Carolina benefit concert.
