Justin Moore has returned to the stage after taking a month off to deal with some health issues.

Since then, he has revealed that he took the time off to seek treatment for his excessive drinking.

Justin recently went on Tracy Lawrence's TL's Roadhouse podcast to shared his experience.

He says he can pinpoint how his drinking went from something casual to something he could no longer control — and it happened gradually. His drinking changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he was spending most of his time at home.

What started as a drink in the evening gradually moved earlier into the day. "I was putting so much energy into drinking and all that kinds of stuff, that it was taking away from, not only my professionalism, but my family, most importantly, church, that kinda stuff," he admitted. "And so, I came home one Sunday as we do every Sunday usually, on the bus, and get off, and 'see y'all next week,' and I walked straight upstairs and told my wife, 'I gotta go get help.'"

Justin convinced himself he was still functioning normally, even as alcohol began affecting his career. It became harder to ignore when he would watch footage of himself performing.

Justin says he's doing much better since starting treatment. "I feel like myself for the first time in a while," he said. "And I'm actually proud of myself for the first time in a while, which maybe sounds weird," he shared.
