Carly Pearce shared with her fans the news that she has been diagnosed with a heart condition that will affect her upcoming tour. "I have always been transparent and honest about every area of my life, so I feel like this deserves the same honesty," she says in a video on Instagram. "You guys know that I have been dealing with some health issues. Through that, I've developed something called Pericarditis, which is a heart issue." Carly is required to monitor her heart rate and will need to rework some of her performance for the upcoming Hummingbird Tour. "I've been working with doctors and talking to my cardiologist, and I still want to be out on the road, it's really important to me, but we have all decided that it is in my best interest as I'm healing to alter my shows a little bit," she says. "So, if my shows look a little bit different, just know it's because I have to keep my heart rate under control right now." Carly assured her fans that she will be okay and encouraged them to look after their own health.
Darius Rucker shares some of his most personal stories in his new memoir, Life's Too Short: A Memoir by Darius Rucker. Each chapter in the book, which was released on May 28th, is named after a song title. Some are from his solo career, others are from Hootie and The Blowfish, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, R.E.M., KISS, Prince and more. Even though Darius may not have written some of the songs, they have all had an impact on his life. Darius admits that his late mother Carolyn wouldn't have wanted him to share some the stories he does throughout the book, but he didn't let that stop him from being open and honest with his readers because even the lowest of moments are still part of his journey. "I always said that if I ever wrote the book, I was going to be as honest as I could be," says Darius. "There's some stuff that's over the top, but I just wanted to tell the story and I wanted people to understand the hard stuff and the good stuff. All this stuff made me who I am today and so when I was writing the book, I wanted you to read it like we were sitting at a bar and I was telling you my life story and so that's how we wrote it."
Morgan Wallen stopped mid-show to design a tattoo for one of his fans. It all started when he saw a sign that said "Morgan, can you draw my first tattoo?" So he took the sign and carefully designed a tattoo for the fan that read, "Love ya. So does God - MW." When he handed it back to her she started to cry. It must run in the family. Morgan's mom, Lesli Wallen, recently surprised a fan with meet and greet tickets to see her son's show. The fan, Kari Shultz, has cerebral palsy and Lesli drove all the way to her school to surprise her.
Kelsea Ballerini is working on new music. She's using the lessons learned from the success of her Rolling Up The Welcome Mat to inspire her new project. "It's been the most freeing chapter of writing music. It really has. I think with 'Welcome Mat,' I never really, I didn't think about it. I wrote it for me really, selfishly, and I put it out just in case anyone else had experienced something like that. And it's changed my life in every way," Kelsea told Music Mayhem. "And so I think because of that, I've gone back and I've kind of analyzed it without the emotion and attachment to it and gone like, 'Okay, well why did this work like this?' And I realized it was just detail of truth-telling and not being scared to go a couple layers deeper." She's also been hinting on social media that there might be some acting in her future. All Kelsea said was, "Yeah, I think there's been something."
Post Malone is teasing new music from his upcoming country album. This time it involves a song with Blake Shelton. He shared a clip of the track on social media late Thursday. Blake responded with eyeball emojis. His wife, Gwen Stefani, also commented saying she "can't handle this much cool and cute." Post Malone hasn't officially revealed details about the new project, but we do know that a number of high-profile country artists are on the project. The first track released is the number one "I Had Some Help" with Morgan Wallen. In addition to Blake Shelton, the project is expected to include Ernest, Luke Combs and Brad Paisley.
Morgan Wallen's This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen was supposed to open this weekend, unfortunately, they've had to postpone it. "We're proud of our team who has worked tirelessly to prepare Morgan Wallen's This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen for opening," the statement reads. "The ground-up construction of a six-story venue launching with hundreds of team members is a tremendous amount of work and a complex process. When we open, we want This Bar to be an exceptional experience for guests. Unfortunately, the process requires more time, and we are not able to open and provide that experience this Memorial Day weekend. Rest assured it will be well worth the wait. We look forward to welcoming guests soon." A new opening date has not been revealed. Billboard quoted a source who says that the venue is waiting for its final inspections and the delay has nothing to do with the Nashville Metro Council's decision to deny approval for the bar's exterior sign.
On May 21st, the Nashville Metro Council voted to reject Morgan Wallen's 20-foot external sign for his This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen, which is scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend. Three members voted in favour of the sign, 30 members voted against it and four council members abstained. Some members of the council said they rejected the sign because of the controversy surrounding Morgan. "I don't want to see a billboard up with the name of a person who's throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs," at-large council member Delishia Porterfield said, according to The Tennessean. "Mr. Wallen is a fellow East Tennessean. He gives all of us a bad name," District 14 council member Jordan Huffman said. "His comments are hateful. His actions are harmful." They are referring to Morgan's use of a racial slur in January 2021 and his arrest for throwing a chair off the rooftop of a bar on April 7th. He was booked on three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. Morgan will appear in a Nashville court in August.
Last night was a big night for Lainey Wilson. After her performance on The Voice finale she was surprised onstage by Reba McEntire with an invitation to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Lainey was very emotional as Reba presented her with a custom-made belt buckle that read, "Opry Lainey 2024," as she got a standing ovation from the judges and audience. "Holy moly!," Lainey shouted as she hugged Reba. "That's a birthday gift right there! My family's over here tonight and I will say they took me to Nashville when I was 9 years old and we went to the Grand Ole Opry and we saw Bill Anderson, Crystal Gayle and Little Jimmy Dickens. I knew that I wanted to play there, I wanted to do it. And it is so crazy that you are asking me to be a member because I look up to you so much. I'm not talking about just musically, but the way that you carry yourself and your work ethic. You inspire me every day."
