The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is opening a new exhibit on February 28th. American Currents: State of the Music will feature items of importance from Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Megan Moroney and more. The annual display looks into country music's evolution over the past year. Some of the items on display include Jelly Roll's patchwork denim jacket, which he wore during his first sold-out headlining concert at Bridgestone Arena and Lainey Wilson's guitar she used during her headlining tour in 2023. Other artists being featured include Oliver Anthony, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Combs, Taylor Swift, The War and Treaty and more. The new display will run until February 2025.
Darryl Worley updated his fans on social media on Thursday, after sharing the video of his family barn fire earlier this week. Fortunately all of the animals that live in the barn are believed to have escaped from the fire. "I don't think I will get this sight out of my mind for a long," Darryl admits, sharing a photo of him looking at the damage to the barn. "I've seen other people go through things like this and I truly hurt for them. You just don't really know and understand until it happens to you. It's the worst feeling!" Darryl says he will rebuild the barn and "move on."
Reba McEntire is heading to Las Vegas in February to sing the "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the Super Bowl. She's joining rapper Post Malone and R&B star Andra Day. Post Malone will sing "America the Beautiful" and Andra Day will sing "Lift Every Voice and Sing." This is the fourth year that a country artist has performed the National Anthem. Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan did the honours in 2021. Mickey Guyton performed it in 2022, and Chris Stapleton's version in 2023 was one of the shows most talked about moments. The 2024 Super Bowl will air on CBS on February 11th.
One of Carrie Underwood's most trusted co-writers will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this spring. Hillary Lindsey has written almost 50 songs recorded by Carrie. She has also written tracks for artists like Keith Urban, Little Big Town, Taylor Swift and Lady A. Her success started in 2002 when "Blessed" became a hit for Martina McBride. The 2024 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set for June 13th in New York City.
There's new music on the way for No Shoes Nation. Kenny Chesney will release his new album, Born, on March 29th. He says he felt so thankful when he saw how his fans reacted to the news that he had a new album in the works. Kenny will also hit the road this year for his 2024 Sun Goes Down Tour. It will launch in April, with stadium dates continuing until August. Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker are all taking part in the stadium shows.
Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney, who recently opened up about his battle with alcohol addiction, ended up spending most of his time in the bathroom during a recent flight to Nashville when he suffered a panic attack. He shared his story on X, saying that his anxiety disorder was triggered by a long delay on the tarmac. The ordeal started at 11pm when the plane landed in Nashville, and it didn't end until he picked up his bags at 4am. "So I started freaking out a bit and I had to take the one pill I had left of the medication I take nowadays for my anxiety," Joe Don writes. "At 1 hour I was in the lavatory trying to breathe slowly and deeply as the first beads of sweat started to drop from my forehead." The flight attendants were understanding and allowed him to stay in the bathroom as long as he stepped out when people had to use it. They offered him a drink, but Joe Don explained that he was in treatment and has been sober for 28 months. He tried meditation music, counting exercises and calling a sober friend. These methods helped but he was still sweating as the wait on the tarmac continued. He was finally able to leave the plane at 2am, but it took another 2 hours to get his bags. He's not blaming the airline or the staff on the plane. He is sharing the story hoping that other people can relate.
LeAnn Rimes is sharing that she recently underwent a surgical procedure to remove precancerous cervical cells following a number of abnormal pap smears. She chose to share her story on social media to remind her fans to take care of their health. LeAnn has been very open about her health issues, including anxiety and depression as well as her lifelong struggle with psoriasis, and now she's advocating for screening and wellness checks. "Early stages of cervical cancer don't usually involve symptoms, so annual screenings and early detection and can be life saving," LeAnn writes. "And, I believe, the more shares and conversations we have around women's wellness, the more we take the 'ewww' factor out of talking about vaginas and put the power back in our hands, to be able to take the best care of our bodies that we can."
