The Highwomen, a group featuring Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, Maren Morris and Natalie Hembley, has reached number one with their debut album.
The self-titled album also hit number 10 on the Billboard all-genre Top 200 chart. Their name is a play on The Highwaymen, a group that featured Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. "Anyone can be a Highwomen," Brandi Carlile says. "It's about banding together, abandoning as much ego as humanly possible, holding one another up and amplifying other women every chance we get. Shoulder to shoulder. One push, one love."
