Jelly Roll has been very open about his life, including a felony conviction and struggling with drug addiction, and how he turned his life around through music. His recent recognition by a Michigan Sheriff's Department is just further proof that you can turn your life around. Jelly was sworn in as a deputy sheriff during a recent visit to the Genesee County Jail in Michigan on Saturday. He was at the jail for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a music studio at the facility meant to help rehabilitate inmates. Jelly stopped by the Genesse County Sheriff's office to see his friend, Sheriff Christopher Swanson, who he has visited with before for some charity work. It was a complete surprise to him that he was being sworn in as a deputy. In a video, Sheriff Swanson stands at the podium and asks Jelly to raise his right hand and proceeds to swear him in. The Sheriff hands him his badge and says, "This is your badge, this is the real deal, you walk into any facility now, you can tell them you're a deputy sheriff for Genesse County."
