Laura Lynch, one of the founding members of the band formerly known as The Dixie Chicks, has died at the age of 65. According to her cousin, she died following a car accident in West Texas on December 22nd. Laura co-founded the Dixie Chicks in 1989 with sisters Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer, as well as Robin Lynn Macy. They were co-lead vocalists for the group on their first two albums, 1990's Thanks Heavens For Dale Evans and 1992's Little Ol' Cowgirl. Robin Lynn Macy left the band in 1993, so Laura Lynch handled all of the lead vocals for their third album, Shouldn't a Told You That. Natalie Maines joined Emily and Martie when Laura left the group. The new trio released their first album, Wide Open Spaces, in 1998. They shortened their name to The Chicks in 2020.
