Garth Brooks is among the artists who have been chosen to receive the Kennedy Centre Honors this year.

"The Kennedy Centre Honors serves as a moment to celebrate the remarkable artists who have spent their lives elevating the cultural history of our nation and world," Kennedy Centre Chairman David M. Rubenstein says announcing the new honorees. He also said that Garth has "heightened country music's profile like no other singer before him." The Honors are scheculed to take place May 17-21 at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, D.C.
