The Ice Man Cup Charity Hockey Tournament was founded to honor the life and legacy of Jimmy "The Iceman" MacNeil, a beloved figure in Brantford known for his commitment to the community and love of hockey. Jimmy tragically passed away due to diabetes-related complications, but his story continues through this special tournament, organized in partnership with Diabetes Canada.

In its second year, the tournament is driven by Jimmy’s son, Jake MacNeil and Jimmy’s wife, Lori MacNeil. Both are passionate about keeping Jimmy’s memory alive alongside Jimmy’s daughters Jordan and Jenna MacNeil. Jake, who continues to work in the hockey world, carries forward his father’s legacy by dedicating this event to raising much-needed funds for diabetes research and Diabetes Canada’s D-Camps. This program offers medically supervised camps for children living with type 1 diabetes, helping them build confidence and diabetes management skills while enjoying the camp experience.
